Topic: serious customers

Serious customers 2nd gig . well as soon as the scene played out . the serious customers were in trouble . missing the bass guitarist . yet hopes turned to a new arrival in the shape of a synth player .. yet i guess hammond organ was not what they needed . however the band played on .. with drums to the for in an all out attack upon the senses and eardrums of the audience . who were i imagine in the mood for some heavy metal rock and roll ..

swirling guitar drone. was there in abundance .. but in the form of a summer shower rather than the monsoon that we all experienced a few days previously ..

interestingly the synth . kicked in with an almost jazz like fusion of drum and keyboard stabs .. giving the whole some life that got the audience cheering ..

the audience this night were a treat .. loving the whole energized frenzy of the music .. loud and clear .. was the message .. loving the serious customers  .

good to see Andrew B.. who i believe videoed the whole scene .. so i guess watch this space ..

Mood:  party time!
Topic: serious customers

I guess that you might call this a blog in transition .. work today was largely about getting a local band . whom i met last night .. noticed . emailling . photos . with a little written piece etc ..

the band serious customers . are in actual fact not bad . art rock new wave with a dose of heavy metal ambient swell ..

solid drums . art house bass . & a heavy dose of treated guitar that drenches the whole ensemble with a slow gothic charm .. all of it's own

arriving at 09.00 pm after a day of art class .. i stood and looked into my pint glass for an hour or so . although talking to the drummer Garry was rather enlightening . a drummer heavily influenced by the likes of the old school drummers . cream etc etc  and yet when quized . an interest in computers .. and all things synthsonic ..

the bassist steve .was late . sending ripples of dammn where is that masked man .. however once he got to play . his background in six strings rather than just the four was a relief .. this guy could play .. laid back art house .. talking heads . esque  . that seemed to fit beautifully alongside the heavy beat that drowned out any a cross word . no sign of the blues anywhere .. thus far . drums & bass doing well . whilst the appeal of the band was perhaps this mix of oldschool and an ambient swell of slow dark .. heavy metal wash..

I photographed the band  ..as the did their number . that really was just a 20 minute long jam . however i managed to upon returning home to find a few choice shots .. that lent themselves to both black & white  .. & rather more pop like treatments .. 4 good shots ..

Jason Caplan is a friend .. and his guitar work is slow methodical & covers the rhythm section with a slow black sloeblack crow black . guitar wash that soaks into every corner of the music .. like a flood

heavily treated guitar .minimal drums & bass ..very little structure . simple yet effective .. I guess a heavy minimalism could sum up the parts ..

one strange thing though ..sitting at a table before the gig .. it seems that there are a few interested parties ..  it seems as if the whole gig was recorded probably on a simple dictaphone.. however . there may be if the space can be found .. an opportunity to use an old tape recorder . a 4 track yamaha .with a few mics .. seems easy enough . whilst a video camera could get these people a visual presence ..

The band are playing again .Sunday or Monday .. @ the Plough Inn . Taunton ..

although i doubt if any more photos would be needed .. maybe by then . a video camera .. who knows ..
